Dealing with Pending Salary from Previous Company: Legal Steps and Actions

Praveen V A
Hi All,

I was working in a company, but they were not giving the salary for 6 months, so I switched to another company. However, the new company still has to clear my 2 months' salary, but they are simply postponing it. They promised me that they would clear the salary dues within 2 months from the date of relieving. So, please help me with what steps I need to take for further actions.

Thanks in advance

These are the steps you need to take:

1) Under the Karnataka Shops and Establishment Act, along with the Payment of Wages Act, one has to pay the salary by the 2nd day after termination.

2) Find your area labor inspector and lodge a complaint.

3) They will issue a show cause and conduct an investigation.

4) For the process, please visit the site below.

You must inform the Director of Health and Industrial Safety. He will also take action against your previous company.
