Worried About Job Abandonment on Your Record? How It Might Affect Your New MNC Offer

Nileshs321
I was working at an MNC for almost a year. I was not satisfied with the work I was doing, so I didn't show much enthusiasm. Then, I received a termination letter on the grounds of job abandonment despite having paid all the dues.

Now, I am working at a small company, and it has been more than a year, and I am satisfied with it.

New Job Offer and Experience Verification

I have received an offer from another MNC company, but I have provided an experience letter from the previous MNC company. Will the new employer verify this? If yes, what will be the impact? What will happen if this comes to light later in my career? How should I handle this situation?

Abandonment of services is a clear-cut unilateral violation of the contract of employment by the employee. Notwithstanding the suitability and potentiality of such an employee, any prudent employer will not take it lightly when he has to take him into his services. So, it all depends on how convincingly you justify the situation and the prospective employer's discretion.

Yes, I am ready to face the situation. But after joining that MNC, can they terminate me for such a previous record?

If you are frank and bold enough, it is better to inform the inevitable circumstances which prompted the decision of abandonment earlier while accepting the offer itself. This way, background verification, if conducted by the new employer, cannot bring any negative impact. When you disclose the fact voluntarily, they may not attempt to terminate your services solely based on this issue, as long as you are otherwise suitable for their organization.

Thank you for your response!

I have informed them again about my termination as I wanted the recruitment process to be transparent. I shared that the termination was due to job abandonment. They only asked for my PAN number and passport number, but not for experience letters from my previous employers. All they inquired about was my current job description and nothing regarding my earlier experience at the MNC.

I believe this information will be sufficient to convince them.

Please add anything to avoid further complications that I can address before accepting the offer from them.

Correction in the above comment, I have informed them that I was terminated but haven't shared the termination in the context of job abandonment.
