Leaving a Non-Profit Consultancy: How Can I Manage Immediate Exit Without Losing Pay?

I have joined a non-profit organization as a Consultant, and as per the agreement, there is a written clause stating one month's notice or the corresponding days of consultancy fees. However, I want to leave the organization with immediate effect but do not wish to forfeit my earnings. I have recently lost my father, and I have many pending paperwork matters to attend to in my home city. Please guide me.

Sorry to say, but if there is a contract, then you have to abide by it or risk a lawsuit that may be filed by your employer.
