Is There Really a Reduction in ESIC Contributions for Employers and Employees? Let's Discuss

HashtagWorld
Dear All,

Please clarify and suggest if there is a reduction in employers' and employees' contributions towards ESIC. I have read in some articles as below: in newly implemented areas, ESIC has decided to reduce the employer's contribution from 4.75% to 3%, and that of employees from 1.75% to 1%; this will be valid for 24 months effective October 2016.

Newly Covered Zones by ESIC

The zones newly covered by ESIC have some features, but ESIC is sending separate letters of confirmation to every employer regarding applicable contribution rates. Most of the establishments are fresh registrants, as the area was not covered under ESIC in the past.

ESIC contribution is not calculated by the employer at the time of filing the monthly return. The specified codes and zones will auto-calculate the applicable ESIC contribution and would reduce the same if applicable in specified zones.

Sir, please see the undermentioned thread and discussion therein:

I hope firstly, you may examine as to from which date the area where your unit is located was declared as implemented under Section 1(3) of the ESI Act, 1948. This information can be obtained from the nearest office/Branch Office of ESIC. Thereafter, you may examine and decide the issue whether the area falls into the category as mentioned in the new rule.
