How Can I Fix My Wrong Birthdate in the EPF Office Without Employer Help?

alpeshdpatel
Myself Alpesh Patel,

In the EPF office, my birthdate is mentioned incorrectly, with the day and month interchanged. I have informed my HR department many times, but they are not taking it seriously.

1. My question is, how can I correct my birth date in the PF office without the help of my employer?

2. Will any queries be raised in the future regarding the birthdate at the time of PF withdrawal?

Thank you.

A joint declaration signed by both the employer and employee should be submitted to EPFO with a copy of proof of DOB. HR or the employer does not have direct access to the EPFO data correction database.

Dear Alpesh, Your employer cannot correct details in EPF by themselves. For the correction of DOB, please follow the steps below:

a) Submit a letter addressed to your employer and CC to EPFO informing them of your PF number, current DOB as on records, and the correction required in DOB.

b) Please submit a self-attested copy of your Aadhaar and PAN card (best documents to provide).

c) Submit one original to your employer and take their acknowledgment sign and stamp. In the employer's letter, also add that you want the employer to submit the letter for the correction of DOB to EPFO.

d) Submit one original to EPFO and state that you have submitted a copy to your employer as well. Attach the acknowledgment copy of the employer.

Furthermore, your employer has to submit a letter to the EPFO stating that Mr. Alpesh has requested a correction in DOB, and the company also confirms the documents are correct and would like the EPFO to carry out the correction. They will need to attach your letter with documents and sign and stamp all pages with the company stamp/sign and then submit to EPFO.

After this, it would be prudent for you to get a copy of this letter and keep it for your records. Additionally, regular follow-up with EPFO is required.

Hope this helps.

Regards, Deena

Enclosed here is the joint declaration of the employee and employer. Please attach a proof of date of birth (DOB), duly attested by both self and the employer.

Thank you.

I fully agree with Mr. U. S. Sharma.

Submission of the form duly filled and attached with self-certified DoB proof will solve your concern. Please have an attestation from your employer.

Glidor is right. You need to give a joint declaration signed by both the employer and the employee, which should be submitted to EPFO with a copy of proof of date of birth.
