Is Submitting a PAN Card Necessary for PF Withdrawal? What Forms Are Needed?

Please suggest, is it mandatory for an employee to submit his/her PAN card copy while withdrawing the PF amount? Also, could you help to understand what forms he has to submit to the PF office for his/her PF amount withdrawal?

If the EPF member contribution is less than five years, then the member has to submit PAN card copy and Form 15G, along with a cheque copy with IFSC code and name printed on the cheque. Otherwise, a passbook front page xerox copy can be submitted.

Use Form 19 for EPF and Form 10C for EPS withdrawal.

Tax Implications on PF Withdrawal

If the employee is ready to pay 34% as tax, then it is not mandatory to submit additional documents. 

If the employee is already paying income tax, then he can submit only his PAN card, so that only 10% will be deducted as tax.

If the taxable income of the employee is less than Rs. 2.5 Lacs, then he can submit his PAN and Form 15G (2 copies) to avoid tax on PF withdrawal.

All these are applicable only if the PF service is less than 5 years (Note: includes all of his previous PF transfer experience) and the expected withdrawal amount is more than Rs. 50,000.

I worked in a private company where my PF amount for claiming final settlement is 70,000. I didn't submit my PAN card because of the difference in names on both sides. I applied for the claim, and I would like to know how much amount will be deducted. Will it be in excess of 50,000 or the entire 70,000? Please let me know.
