Now, I have secured a job in a bank, and they are requesting a relieving letter. I had tendered my resignation in September and possess a resignation acceptance letter. The data sent to my email account holds no financial benefit; it was an inadvertent error. Kindly advise on the possibilities of obtaining a relieving letter and an experience certificate.

Sir, I had resigned on September 9th. I transferred the data on the 27th of September. After an inquiry, I was given a resignation acceptance on the 5th of October by my manager. However, the very next day, my HR sent a show cause notice. I replied to it, but after that, I received an email stating that my explanation was not satisfactory, and my job was terminated. Should I pursue any legal procedures?

I agree with the suggestion of Col. Rathi that you should approach the previous employer and express your sincere regrets for your mistakes. It seems that you have acted over-smartly in transferring some company's data to your personal mail for some ulterior motive, which has been viewed seriously by the management. There is no point in moving legally, as even if they give you the relieving letter under pressure, they are likely to mention the reasons as "termination on disciplinary grounds," which may put you in further problems in your present job. As such, the best solution for you is to approach your previous employer and settle the issues amicably once and for all.

Your resignation acceptance letter is also your relieving letter as it must mention your last working day.
