Salary Offer - Maximum 40% Hike Vs Parity In Team

Anjali2789
Hi,
I had a few rounds of interviews at an MNC. I was asked my salary and expectations some 15 days back. I have got to know that HR does not want to give a salary higher than 40% hike whereas business team wants to give me more to bring parity in the team. HR says company policy does not allow them to give more than a certain percentage of hike because of which this issue is not yet resolved.
In such a scenario, will there be any problem with them extending offer letter to me? Will they come back to me with whatever they finally decide or is there a chance that may not even extend the offer? They have not directly communicated to me about this situation yet.
Also, in such a scenario, who has the final say? HR or Business Team?

You have done your job!! In fact 40% hike and above is very high, likely to get non-acceptance.
It is your requirement against company's position. Both have requirements. Anywhere HR and HODs where position exists go together / unitedly, not get confused. In some places, HOD says-I have found suitable, appoint him. Here , HR will issue appointment letter. This also has purpose behind that HR will not sign appointment at demanded salary that will disturb salary structure in the organization . In most of the organizations, HR fixes salary and decides everything for which he has main role as position holder.

Hi RDSYadav,
So, you mean they will likely issue offer letter at a salary limit fixed by HR? Hope i will atleast get offer letter?

Anjali,
You are asking the members of the forum to judge and decide what the internal procedure and dcusion making is in a company we know nothing about. Anything we say is a guess. You need to communicate directly with the concerned business team and check what is happening
