Isn't this just a press release? Shouldn't a notification be issued with the fact of the increase in wages for ESI calculation and the date of applicability for employers to start deducting ESI contributions from the salaries of employees?

Gazette notification for the enhancement of ceiling from Rs. 15,000/- to Rs. 20,000/- is enclosed herewith for reference.

As per the latest notification attached by Sumit Kumar, it has not yet been declared to implement the enhancement in wage ceiling. The attached notification is for inviting suggestions etc. and not an order to implement the change.

I request everyone to wait for the final notification regarding implementation and to refrain from reposting the same notification repeatedly.

There is still no clear notification regarding the implementation of the increase in the wage ceiling limit. The implementation date should be explicitly mentioned in the Gazette notification. Currently, we are only reviewing the draft notification for suggestions. Please wait until the final notification is released.

Dear Sumit,

The Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, issued a notification on October 6, 2016, requesting suggestions within one month regarding the proposed enhancement of the salary limit from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 21,000. These suggestions will be reviewed by the Ministry, and subsequently, a final gazette notification will be released, specifying the date of implementation.

The official notification is still awaited with the implementation date. Let us wait for the same. According to specialists, the implementation date may change instead of effective October '16.

The notification is an invitation for suggestions. We need to wait until the final notification is released. Further, please be informed that planning is underway to enhance the ceiling EPF limit from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 25,000.

Notification on ESC Ceiling Enhancement

Previously, on 6/10/2016, a Gazette Notification from the Government of India was issued for the enhancement of the ceiling of ESC from Rs. 15,000/- to Rs. 21,000/-. It also requested the submission of suggestions and complaints from all persons involved in the matter before the expiry of the thirty-day period. After considering the various objections, complaints, and suggestions, ESIC has finally decided to implement the ceiling enhancement from 01/01/2017. The Gazette Notification regarding this matter is enclosed herewith for reference.

I agree with Sh. Sumit Kumar Saxena that the Central Govt. has issued a gazette notification enhancing the coverage limit to Rs. 21,000/- from the earlier limit of Rs. 15,000/-. The effective date has been fixed as January 01, 2017. He has attached an office order along with a copy of the gazette notification in his mail.
