How Should I Handle My Employer's 7-Month Salary Delay After Filing a Complaint?

md.yaseen811@gmail.com
I have been working with an FMCG firm for the last year. For the initial 3 months, he paid on time, but after that, he did not pay until March. In April, he paid only 7500. I keep asking him to clear my salaries, but he keeps excusing me by saying, "I will pay next month or the month after." Till date, he has not paid my remaining salary, and I have lodged a complaint with the local authorities.

Please advise on what steps I should take next.

Hi Mr. Yaseen,

I understand your concern regarding your salary. You can ask your employer to provide in writing the reason for the non-payment of salary. Submit a letter expressing your concerns to your employer and ensure to receive an acknowledgment copy. If he doesn't respond, you can appeal to your respective Labour Office.

When I asked him when he would clear my salary, he replied with the following:

Provide the sales data performed by you over the period indicated below. According to our business data, there are no domestic/export sales registered under your name. We shall remit your payment provided we receive a satisfactory sales graph from you.

You should have used the office infrastructure to perform your job and increase the company's sales. This is not acceptable behavior for a responsible employee.

Please advise on what to do next.

Dear Friend,

It seems you are working for an unprofessional company/employer. I doubt whether the company has given you an Appointment letter and a salary slip too. If you have been provided with it, you can escalate the matter to the magistrate court by filing a legal suit. (I would have suggested lodging a grievance with the HR department in your company, but needless to say, they seem inactive).
