Feeling Helpless: How to Cope When Your Workload and Salary Are Suddenly Cut Off?

dhiraj.vyawahare
I am working in a private engineering college. One day, in my HOD's cabin, a colleague abused me in an unprofessional manner and language in front of my staff. Instead of taking action against that staff member, the principal appointed another person as HOD and took back my subject workload. Since that day, I have had less work in the department, and my salary has been stopped. I feel helpless because I have a home loan from SBI, and my son is in 10th grade. The tension is increasing, and I am in full depression due to the principal's attitude towards me. He told me that my performance is not up to the mark, but there is no tool to measure performance. However, students are satisfied with my teaching.

Please suggest a solution because the basic reason has been set aside, and he is expecting my performance from the last 4 years.

Hi Dhiraj,

If you can take this issue to the chairperson, it may get resolved. My opinion is that you can look out for a job. You have mentioned that your son is in 10th standard, which proves that you have great experience, unless you came into this profession recently. Also, there should be some reason for your colleague to abuse you in front of your HOD.
