Employee Rejoined After Leaving: Can I Use the Same EPF Number for Them?

Respected Sir,

I had a situation where an employee left in July 2016 under the ECR scheme but rejoined the company in September 2016. Can I continue with the same EPF number for this employee?

If you have indicated the date of leaving in the ECR, then you cannot continue with the same EPF No. You need to allocate a separate new PF Code with a new joining date and ensure it is linked with the UAN No already assigned.

If the person concerned has not withdrawn or transferred his accumulations, his existing EPF number will continue.

Dear Sandeep,

If the said employee did not withdraw his EPF amount from the same EPF account, then you can use the same account number; otherwise, you have to enroll as a fresh applicant.
