Job Offer Retracted During Notice Period: How Should I Handle Being Suddenly Jobless?

Hi Mahendra,

Currently, I am with a BPO Company in Pune, and I have received an offer from a different company. I have completed all the documentation and formalities with the new company and have also received the offer letter.

However, I am currently serving my notice period with my current company, and suddenly the new company retrieved the offer letter from me, stating that I cannot join them due to some client issues.

Now, I find myself jobless. Please help me figure out what I should do.

If the notice period has not expired, you can withdraw your resignation even though it was already accepted by your current employer.

You can withdraw your resignation is one option. But for future reference, I would like to state that offer letters, relieving letters, promotion letters, etc., are not to be returned and should be handled carefully. They are lifelong companions as part of your CV. You have to preserve them through photocopies, originals, or scans for ready reference and display. Please remember this for the future.

Your name suggests the answer to all problems. Life is full of struggle, experience, and moving forward. Try for another opportunity; it's certain that you are capable of achieving something better than the recent offer you did not accept. It may be true that the client company refrained from placing an order with this company, otherwise, the situation might not have turned adverse. However, you should stop dwelling on this and instead focus on aiming and preparing for a new job. The past offer was not your future; your future holds something greater and better, especially considering your potential.

Hi,

You can talk to your present reporting manager to see if they can retain you with some commitments. If not, you can legally contest the issue with the next company using the issued and accepted offer letter, or start looking for a new job.

One question comes to my mind... What if after joining Krishna to the new company, this similar situation occurs? Are they going to revoke the appointment letter? Is it not against ethics?
