Can I Withdraw My PF and Pension 3 Years After Retirement Without Issues?

I retired in November 2014 and have not withdrawn either the pension or the PF amount to date. I intend to withdraw it in October 2017, i.e., 3 years after retirement when I need this money, and after ceasing to contribute to the PF fund.

My question is whether I can apply after 3 years with no hassles or problems. Is it allowed under the PF rules? Will my PF account be treated as an active account for 3 years after retirement? What about the pension; will I receive it after 3 years retrospectively without hassles?

I would appreciate your suggestions in this regard to enable me to proceed ahead, as this is my lifelong savings.

This is with reference to your query. Please note, you can apply for PF withdrawal after three years. However, along with the submission documents, you need to produce a declaration certificate stating that during this period, you were not an employee in any organization, nor a part of EPF membership.

Regarding your EPS (Pension) query, you will be eligible for EPS benefits from 1st October 2014, and the unpaid amount of your pension will be paid as arrears.

My personal suggestion to you is not to wait for three years. Please withdraw your PF and start availing pension benefits.

Regarding PF withdrawal, you can withdraw it even after 3 years, but interest accrual will stop after 3 years. Regarding pension, you have to justify the delay factor properly because there will be a 5-year delay as it starts at the completion of 58 years of age.

Interest on dormant accounts will continue even after 3 years. The authorities had issued a notification to that effect, but it was later withdrawn.
