Only Pf Registration

Dear Sir,
is it compulsory to get registered for both the pf and esi. I requested by employer only for pf but they say that esi is also compulsory.
i want only pf registration and i do not want esi . is it possible to have only pf membership and no membership for esi.

If at all your organisation is employed 10+ employees then ESI is compulsory & if employed 20+ then PF is also mandatory
