How Will the New E-Compliance Rules Impact Your Business's Labor Record Keeping?

SOUBHIK KUMAR GHOSH
Please find attached a new notification from the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India dated 17.8.2016, regarding "E-Compliance - Digitization of Labour-related records or registers by establishments or business units for ease in compliance."

Synopsis of the Notification

Presently, there are 43 central labor laws (Annexure-A), out of which 14 provide for the maintenance of more than 80 registers/records (Annexure-B) in specified formats. The Ministry of Labour & Employment has proposed the digitization of labor-related records for the ease of doing business and the consolidation of these registers into 9 electronic registers. The Employee Register (Annexure-C), Wage Register (Annexure-D), and Attendance Register (Annexure-E) will be uniform under various Acts. Act-specific registers will be provided separately.

Establishments will be required to maintain the same on the Shram Suvidha Portal. This initiative aims to avoid duplication of work and ensure accuracy. Data will be integrated with other social security schemes, and output reports will be available in prescribed registers as per different Acts. A concept paper in this regard is circulated for comments within one month.

Hi Team,

There is confusion regarding whether it is operational or not. Many companies/contractors are still maintaining the old registers. Any input on this matter would be appreciated.

Please revert.

Ajay Sharma
