ESI Aadhar Linkage: Procedures for Updating Employee and Family Member Aadhaar Details

As per the recent requirement, it is necessary for employers to link Aadhaar to ESI members as well as their family members' Aadhaar. Please help me out with the procedure, and also, is there any possibility for employees to link Aadhaar if the ESI number is given to them.

All you have to do is edit the existing employee details online and update the AADHAR number.

Yes, ESI AADHAAR linkage can be done either by the employer, employee, or by the ESI branch office. However, ESI AADHAAR linkage is not mandatory; it's optional for the ESI pehchan card. If an employee links his and his family members' Aadhaar to his ESI number and verifies it with OTP, he does not need to go for biometric photo pehchan card registration. The TIC, now renamed as e-pehchan card, will serve as a permanent card if Aadhaar is linked and verified. But if employees do not want to link their Aadhaar, they can go for the Biometric Photo pehchan card camp as usual.

Collect employee and his family Aadhar card photo copies, go to ESI portal, click on Update IP details, search employee by name or insurance no., click edit, go to personal details and update IP Aadhar No., go to Nomination details and update Nominee Aadhar no., go to Family details and update individual family members Aadhar no., Save.

It can be done by the employee as well. You can click on the link below: http://www.esic.in/employeeportal/login.aspx. The login ID is Employee - ESI No. Once the employee logs in, go to Update Aadhaar no., enter the Aadhaar number, and submit. Click on Verify. An OTP will be sent to the employee's mobile number registered with Aadhaar. If the mobile number is not registered with Aadhaar or has been changed, the employee must update his mobile number on the Aadhaar portal first. Only then can he verify his Aadhaar in the ESI portal.

Once verified, the employee needs to update the Aadhaar details of his family members enrolled in ESI. Click on Employee details, update Nominee Aadhaar No. following the same process as above - the Nominee Mobile number should be registered with Aadhaar for the verification process. Update the Aadhaar numbers of family members one by one using a similar process - family members' mobile numbers should be registered with Aadhaar for the verification process.

After updating and verifying all Aadhaar numbers in the ESI portal, the employee can request the employer for a new e-Pehchan card (TIC), which will serve as the permanent ESI card for the employee to avail all ESI benefits.

I am attaching an Excel file. First, you can fill in the ESIC number, then the Aadhar number of the employee. You can upload the Excel file by following these steps:

1. Bulk IP Aadhar upload.
2. Then browse the Excel file.
3. Upload it.

We are unable to update the Aadhar details of a family member as it is giving us the error "You must enter text with 12 or fewer characters." Is there any way we can update the records?

As you are well aware, all eligible employees and their family members registered under the ESI Act were initially issued an e-Pehchan Card (TIC) valid for 30 days. They were required to visit a Pehchan Camp for enrollment for a biometric-based Permanent Pehchan Card to avail medical treatment beyond thirty days of registration. The facility to enter the Aadhaar Numbers has also been provided in the IP/Member Portal (Process Flow attached). You or the employee can use this facility to update your Aadhaar Numbers along with those of your family members.

Sir, one of the employee's family details got removed. There is an option to "make active," but when I am trying to activate it, an error shows that the Aadhar number is already linked with another IP. What can I do now?
