Feeling Stuck Choosing an MBA Major? Seeking Advice on HR vs. Marketing Paths

I'm doing an MBA, and in the next couple of months, I'm going to have to choose a major and a minor. However, I seem to be quite uncertain about it. I don't know which of the two is better, highly demanding, and most salary-oriented. Some say that selling (MBA in marketing) is good, highly demanding, and offers the best prospects, but it's also more like a traveling or door-to-door selling job. Quite honestly, I'm not interested in that, nor do I wish to pursue anything like that at all.

I simply long for a job that provides me with proper satisfaction and, of course, a high salary along with a balanced life schedule. Nowadays, I see there's so much rush. Everyone seems to be unhappy with their jobs, and even my seniors are switching jobs incessantly over time. I really don't want this to happen to me, not at all. So, I joined this forum to see if someone can help resolve these life dilemmas and provide clarity.

It is very important that you decide your career path during your school days, as during that period, you create the foundation of your career and proceed accordingly.

Choosing the Right Career Path

Every career option is good in itself, whether it is sales, marketing, HR, or anything else. When choosing the right career, you should focus on two things: 1. your interests and 2. your strengths. Based on these, you should decide your career goal. To determine your specialization, you need to evaluate both your interests and strengths in those subjects. Do not solely rely on others' opinions. Many people around you may not be successful in their jobs because they did not choose a career that aligns with their strengths and interests. They may have chosen a job based on reasons such as a high salary, advice from friends, proximity to home, parental influence, or other factors.

Remember, if you pursue a career in a field you love and excel in, you will shine in life and truly enjoy your work. When you start enjoying your work, you are less likely to keep switching jobs. Focus on what is right for you rather than just the monetary aspects; money will naturally follow.
