Sec.2(1) of the Maternity Benfit Act makes it applicable to govt.establishments also and it shall also be applicable, in my view, to CAPF, it being a establishment and the Act does not contain any provision excluding para military establishments or armed forces.However the Act is applicable to a woman employee.Therefore whether the nature of terms of contract of service, you have with CAPF will determine whether you will be an employee or an independent consultant and in the latter case it will not be applicable to you.
