In an employment context, the term "staff" is a collective noun indicating all the employees of a particular activity in an organization, such as teaching staff, non-teaching staff, office or clerical staff, sales or marketing staff, or personnel. The Minimum Wages Act, 1948, covers only an "employee" as defined under section 2(i) of the Act employed in the scheduled employment.
The government declares the minimum wages for workers (for unskilled, skilled, office staff, etc.). Can we make the breakup of that minimum wage and deduct the PF at a lower rate?
