Banking operations may be impacted today as public sector bank employees plan to strike against the proposed merger of associate banks with SBI and government banking reforms. The United Forum of Banks Unions (UFBU), representing 8 lakh staffers, will proceed with the strike, potentially affecting services like cheque clearances, cash deposits, and withdrawals. Most banks, including SBI, have informed customers of disruptions due to the strike. The All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) General Secretary mentioned that a conciliation meeting did not yield positive results, and the unions are pressing for demands including halting banking sector reforms.
