How Can Former Employees Get a UAN for EPF Withdrawal Claims?

sanjayksri
Hi,

Greetings of the day.

The new rule for EPF withdrawal states that the EPF department will not accept claim forms without a UAN number. The issue now arises for many employees whose EPF numbers were issued before the UAN system was in place.

Is it possible to obtain UAN numbers for employees who have left the company in the past?

The EPFO department is currently returning claim forms that do not include a UAN number.

Please advise.

Thank you.

UAN Allocation for Employees with Old EPF Numbers

Now, the problem is that many employees have EPF numbers from a time when UAN was not applicable. For the past two years, EPFO has been working on UAN. There is no issue of old accounts versus new accounts. EPFO assigns UAN numbers to all active accounts after the process is completed by the employer.

It is possible that a member left the company before the UAN was allocated. If the member is now working at another establishment, they should be advised to generate their UAN there and link the account by requesting assistance from EPFO officials. Alternatively, if they wish to withdraw, they can simply write a request letter mentioning the issue.
