Facing Issues with TCS Background Check: How Should I Handle Missing Bonus Documentation?

Background Check Issue with TCS Offer

I have cleared the TCS interview on 14th May 2016, and they offered me the job. At that time, I was working at a small startup company for only three months. The company paid my salary via cheques, except for the last salary, which was paid in cash due to some issues with their bank account. However, they did not provide any salary slips for these payments. They deducted Rs. 3000 as a bonus from my salary, but this was not mentioned in the offer letter, nor did they provide any written proof for the deduction (I did not request this from them).

Background Check Process

During the Background Check (BGC) process, they asked me for clarification on the Rs. 3000 bonus in writing. I informed them that it was not documented. They requested bank statements from me, which I provided. The bank statement shows a cheque deposit of Rs. 20,500 (with Rs. 3000 deducted as a bonus and an additional Rs. 1500 deducted for leaves). The last month's salary was paid in cash (Rs. 21,500).

I have explained all these details to the BGC via email and provided the necessary salary documentation. However, they are insisting that the bonus details should have been mentioned in the offer letter (which it was not). I suggested they review the salary documents (where the bonus deduction is evident), but the BGC did not agree.

Seeking Advice

Please advise me on the best course of action. Should I personally meet with HR in the respective region, or do you have any other suggestions?

Thank you.

I think you should first meet with the HR personally and see what can be done in this case. Even I faced this issue years ago. In that scenario, I had to forgo the bonus part of my salary package as I did not receive any documentation or a salary hike.
