Feeling Stuck as a New IT Recruiter: How Do I Source Candidates Without Job Portals?

nagarjuna06
Hi,

I recently joined a software consultancy as an IT recruiter and have been working there for the past month. Previously, I worked as a non-IT recruiter. The problem I am facing is that the organization is not cooperating. They are not providing any data banks, only giving requirements and asking about the performance at the end of the day in terms of how many candidates were selected. In my previous company, I used to work on job boards for sourcing and screening profiles. Now, there are no job portals, and I am unable to find profiles.

Could you please guide me on what to do? Thank you.

Discuss all these issues with your immediate reporting officer now; otherwise, it may be late. If you do not approach for discussions now, then at a later stage, you may not be in a position to defend your stance. Just go ahead and let me know the outcome.

ALL THE BEST...

Dear Kunjal,

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I have already raised this issue in my office. However, they have informed me that they are currently unable to utilize job portals. As an alternative, they are offering me the opportunity to work night shifts to cater to the US requirements. Given that I have recently joined this organization, I am hesitant to make a change at this point.

I am seeking advice on how to proceed. Your prompt response would be greatly appreciated.

As you said, it's just one month, so move on to a better company. None of the consultancies ask you to work without portals.

Nagarjuna,

I would suggest that you must ask for the data bank generation. Here, you can talk to your senior on how to generate the data bank if the company is not providing the job portal. Since you are on probation and it's only been 1 month, you can ask for guidance.

Alternatively, ask for the old data which the company might have, or inquire about how the other person at your place used to work. This information can be obtained from seniors, colleagues, etc. Try to gather insights from each before reaching any conclusions.

In the end, with the permission of your seniors and CiteHR owners, you can post your requirements at your company on CiteHR.
