One of our employees has applied for maternity leave. Please provide a detailed plan on how to process the leave from the HR side.

Thank you.

Dear HR Team,

If a female employee has completed 80 days of service before proceeding on maternity leave, then she is entitled to 84 days of maternity leave. You can record maternity leave (ML) in the register and make payments on a monthly basis, similar to how you handle other types of leave like EL/CL.

If someone takes AL for 40 days, you would make the payment in the same manner as you do for other types of leave.

Thank you.

Maternity benefit is not a monthly payment, as said by Malikjs. Prenatal benefits for forty-two days shall be paid in advance. Postnatal benefits for 42 days shall be paid within 48 hours.

Dear All,

If a female employee has completed 80 days of service before proceeding on maternity leave, is she entitled to 26 weeks or 84 days of leave?

Please revert back.

Thank you.

As of today, as per the Maternity Benefit Act, it is 84 days, not 26 weeks. It is only a proposal to extend it to 26 weeks. However, some companies are already providing 26 weeks of maternity leave.
