Leave Policy Dilemma: How Should We Count Weekends and Mondays?

minakshi10mishra@gmail.com
I am working in an educational organization as an HR-Admin. I need suggestions based on my knowledge regarding the leave policy. If anyone takes leave on Saturday as well as Monday, then their week off will be counted as leave. However, if they work on Saturday and take leave on Monday, will it be counted as leave? Please suggest.

It works based on how you process your payroll. If you pay wages only for working days excluding the weekly offs, you cannot practice the above deductions, as you will be paying only for working days.

If you are paying wages for the whole 30/31 days in a month, then you will be considering this as sandwich leave, and 3 days will be taken as continuous leave or LOP based on his leave availability.

If the person works on Saturday and takes leave on Monday, his Sunday will be the weekly off and not leave. Weekly off will be leave only if both the preceding and subsequent days are leave days.

User input:
Don't you have provision for CL or EL in your company? In that case, the total number of leaves given will be deducted.

Saswata Banerjee's reply is correct. However, if he has a compensatory off, then he can take that on Saturday and a C/L on Monday or proceed on P/L from Monday.
