Salary Delays: Is There a Legal Deadline for Payment Under the Factory Act?

Hi all,

My employer always pays the salary between the 15th to the 20th after the completion of the month, which is quite late. Please tell me if there is any due date for salary payment under the Factory Act.

If you have fewer than 1000 employees, then payment should be made by the 7th of the following month. For companies with over 1000 employees, payment should be made by the 10th of the following month, on a working day.

Under which act is it stated that the payment should be made within 7 days after completion of the month? Could you also provide me with the relevant section/clause for the same?

There is no provision under the Factory Act, but it is specified in Sections 5 to 7 of the Payment of Wages Act. The Payment of Wages Act is applicable to all factories in India.
