Facing Employer Threats After Leaving Without Notice: What Legal Steps Can I Take?

srikant143
Dear Sir,

I am writing regarding the issue with my employer. I worked at the company for 1.6 years. However, they are now blackmailing me to file a complaint with the police. Could you please advise me on the charges that may be brought against me?

Thank you for your assistance.

Sincerely

Can you please let us know the entire story of yours so that experts can guide you? And what do you mean by a police complaint?

What charge will the company proceed against you? Unless you have done something, the police will not charge you. Just leaving a company does not make it a police case. But the details given by you are incomplete. Give full details in a normal manner - do not use all capitals.

Calm down and let us know in full what the problem is. Learned members can guide you to the best of their knowledge based on the facts given by you.

I left that company without providing any information. They are calling me on the phone, but I keep explaining that I am facing problems and cannot come back. They didn't provide me with an offer letter, and I have not signed any bond paper. Now, they are insisting that I return to complete my work before leaving; otherwise, they threaten to file a complaint with the police station.

Have you got any company property, cash, or documents that have not been returned?

What work have you left pending?

Anyway, they cannot complain to the police if you have taken or retained any company property.

I am not left with any work. I am a 14,000 rupees employee. I don't have any company property, and they owe me 5,000 rupees. I don't have any company documents. They are telling my friend, "Please talk to my parents," and they want to explain without information that your son has left our company. So, we have filed a complaint with the police. After that, you don't contact us. Why are you behaving like this?

Dear Srikant,

Mr. Nathrao is right. If you don't have any cash or important documents of the company, they cannot complain to the police.

Please send a written email to the company stating that you don't have anything pending with the company and that you would not like to continue.

Thank you.

Srikanth,

There is a procedure in the Police department to file a complaint. When you do not have an offer letter in hand given by the company or have not signed any document with your company, then it is not possible to file a complaint.

The Police department requires proper documentation to prove that you are an employee of the company. Without the valid document, the complaint will not be accepted.

So, they did not give you the joining letter or offer letter? On what basis or with what documents did you start working there?
