I want to start a business to supplement my HR skills. Can someone help me understand how to go about it? How can I start a consultancy firm? How to approach companies, how to get contracts, what should be the fees, etc.

A recruitment consulting services firm requires you to have a strong candidates' database, not the run-of-the-mill types, but unique in a way that another consultant may not have. Today, a lot of people rely on Naukri, Monster, and a few other pay-and-use job portals. These portals are helpful only to an extent; beyond that, they do not offer any great value. If you really want to be successful in the recruitment business, then you need to specialize. Do the required market research before entering into it.
