New to HR: Should I Count Sunday as a Leave for an Employee Who Took 5 Days Off?

Dear all HR,

I am new in the field of HR. Here in our company, one of the employees has availed 5 leave in one week. Please share your view: should I give him the benefit of Sunday leave?

Sir,

The employee had taken leave without pay; however, the employee took 5 days off in one week. Please guide me on whether I should deduct only 5 days' salary or 6 days, including Sunday.

Sir, our company is a private limited manufacturing entity registered under the Factory Act. If an employee takes 5 days of leave, for example, if Mr. X avails leave for 5 days from Monday to Friday, the company will deduct his 6 days' salary for Sunday to Friday, including Sunday.

Please confirm if this policy is correct: if an employee takes a 5-day leave, they will not be entitled to include Sunday in their leave entitlement.
