Facing Job Threats Over Unpaid Travel Allowance: What Are My Rights and Options?

Travel Allowance and Employment Rights

I am working at a client-side location for my company. The client-side location is very far away from my usual workplace, so I have to claim a travel allowance from my company. However, my company is not willing to provide any allowance. They insist that I have to manage it without any financial support. Moreover, my manager has warned me that I might be fired if I refuse to comply.

Even though the HR policy mentions the provision of a travel allowance, the HR department does not seem to be supportive. It is a small firm, and I feel that they are being unfair to their employees. I am concerned about how to handle this situation as I do not want my future to be jeopardized by these circumstances. Could you please advise me on my rights as an employee in this situation? Do they have the right to terminate my employment? Can I seek legal assistance?

Thank you in advance for any valuable suggestions. Please respond.

Ideally speaking, the company should provide conveyance expenditure for visiting clients. Therefore, I request your HOD to take up the matter of providing conveyance or reimbursement of expenditures involved in visiting clients. Are all other employees facing a similar problem?

Other employees don't stand up for their rights and don't ask because HR people don't support their employees. They are basically worried about job security. They say policies are revised, and they cannot provide travel allowances. If an employee is not doing what the client said, they are going against company policy, which could cost them their job. In my case, my manager said, "I will fire you." I have never had such an experience working for this company.

Please advise on my employee rights in this situation and how to proceed legally.
