The Overflow of Talent in India

There is so much talent in India that it is overflowing and reaching other countries. It's only that we have fewer opportunities, and the chances of growth are limited. Though things have started to change, the pace is still slow and not what is desired. There is also a problem with talented candidates who do not know how to reach the organizations that will value their worth. Being rejected in a couple of interviews or jobs, they move to a totally unknown world.

Mismatch in Job Roles

Engineers are working in accounts, HR people are working as receptionists, and hotel management candidates are working in Pharma Sales; all odd combinations are present. It's a problem with both companies and candidates. Companies hire candidates that match their budget, irrespective of their skills and experience, while candidates settle for jobs that come their way. Recruiters and placement consultants are the most affected, and this leads to a never-ending recruitment process.

I agree with Excelencia Skills. There is talent in India, but the shortage is felt for various reasons. Firstly, the hiring managers in many cases are not adept at understanding the core competencies required for a job and mostly go by the reputation of the institutes or the articulation of the candidate in the half-hour interview, mistaking apples for oranges. Secondly, the candidates themselves are confused about what they are good at and end up choosing the wrong careers. Thirdly, as Excelencia says, most of them do not know how to discover an employer who values talent, and the employers also do not know how to meet talent. The recruitment agencies, who act as a connecting link between the candidate and the employer, are either short of that special talent who can spot talent from the heap or do not invest enough in research.

Great question! In today's time, talent management professionals need to work on initiating leadership skills among the members of an organization. Check this out: "Effective Ways To Revive Talent Management In Asia." I found it to be most informative on this topic.
