Is a Notice Period Required During Probation? Seeking Advice on My Situation

Hi All,

I have joined a multinational company 2 months back and I am resigning from this organization due to personal family reasons. My HR is asking me to complete the notice period of 2 months. I was assuming the notice period is not applicable in the probation period.

Please suggest. Thank you in advance.

What does your appointment letter say about the exit procedure?

There are no specific labor laws that an employee is supposed to give a notice period if he is in a probation period. It depends upon an agreement/appointment letter signed by both the employee and employer. If it's mentioned in such agreement/appointment letter, the employee has to give a notice period; otherwise, it's not necessary.
