Closing Indian Operations: How to Handle Employee Termination and Statutory Payments?

dolphy_g
Dear All,

We are planning to close our Indian Operations; hence, we would like to terminate all the employees. I wanted to get a termination letter format and understand what statutory payments we need to make when closing the office.

Thank you for your kind assistance.

Considerations for Closing Operations in India

Based on the nature of your business in India, whether you run a factory or a shop, the complexity can vary. The number of employees is another factor to consider. If you have trade unions in your Indian business unit, it's important to know how many of them are recognized.

Do you maintain 100% statutory compliance formalities in India? If yes, things would be smoother. If not, there can definitely be roadblocks. My suggestion is to seek the help of an expert in this field rather than making opinion-based decisions and action plans. Experts who help companies navigate through exit formalities are available in most Indian cities.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, all statutory compliances have been addressed, and there is no union as this is a sales office, and we only have very few staff.

Best Regards,
Dolphy
