Can We Align Paid and Casual Leave Periods to the Same Calendar Year? Seeking Advice

ruchi.gandhi@pencillati.com
Hi,

I am working as an HR Executive in my organization. We currently follow a leave period where Paid leave is taken from April to March, and Casual Leave is taken from January to December.

I am seeking clarification on whether it is possible to change the Paid leave period to run from January to December or switch the Casual leave period to be from April to March. Is it acceptable for both types of leave to share the same period, or is it necessary for them to have different time frames?

Thank you.

Leaves have to be calculated from January to December only. That's the global practice. I do not understand how you have started the practice of calculating paid leaves from April to March. Even the Factories Act and the Shops and Establishment Act define the same. Please change the leave calculations to January to December.
