Employer Hasn't Hired Me As A Trainee, But Avoiding To Give A Final Job.

Management Trainee Experience: Seeking Advice

My employer hired me and two others as Management Trainees through campus placement. Initially, they stated that the training would last for 3 months. After the interviews, three of us were selected.

Upon joining, the offer letter indicated that the training would be for 12 months, not 3. When we questioned HR about this discrepancy, they mentioned it depends on how quickly we get trained. We agreed to this condition. Three months have passed, and we trained ourselves with great enthusiasm, but there was no initiative from the employer to ensure we met their expectations (which were never clearly communicated to us).

It has now been 12 months, and the company is still "training" us. The employer hasn't ensured we have the necessary resources for training, nor have they clarified what they expect from us in the future. We are paid to go to the workplace daily and do nothing for 8 hours. Despite conveying this issue to the Director several times, it remains unaddressed. The management has a very laid-back attitude, focusing only on daily tasks without any overarching goals.

Seeking Suggestions

1. Is the company right in doing this?
2. Should we consider leaving the company? (The company is small on a global level, and we hope the scope will be good for our careers. However, we currently feel completely useless, and given the company's operations, we doubt our future satisfaction here.)
3. Can we take legal action against the employer for not fulfilling their promises?

Please help me out here. I appreciate it. Thank you.

Have a frank discussion with your HOD and HR. Make efforts to secure another job in the meantime. The moment you get a suitable placement, leave on good terms and properly as per your appointment order. If no work is being given, then something is surely wrong as no private company can keep paying without output.

I think you have gained one year of experience, and it should be sufficient for you to move and find a more fulfilling organization. Why stick to a company that does not care for you?
