i have about 40 employees.morning afternoon and evening shift.i need totals of hours worked in a month,days absent, days scheduled to work etc.

Hi,
Try to create types of work schedules and link them to the group of employees who are coming in diff shifts.
the system will able to calculate all the data about the hours.
If you are using SAP Let me know i will send you the steps and their linkage to the groups.
