How to Handle a Job Change When Your Salary Is Paid in Cash Without a Slip?

Aaron Andrew
Hi,

I am working with a private limited company. My salary is Rs 10,000 per month without any deductions. I am not provided any salary slip or pay slip, and the salary is given in cash. Now, I have to join another company and need to submit my salary slip. What should I do? Please guide.

Also, I had a word with my company; they can only provide a salary certificate of Annual Salary showing Rs 10,000 * 12 = 1,20,000 per annum. Kindly send a format of a salary certificate without deductions.

Are such Salary Certificates Valid?

Thanks & Regards,
Aaron

Dear Aaron,

Congratulations on the new assignments. Yes, you may provide the salary certificate instead of the salary slip to the new organization. It is equally valid.

Hi,

As per your conditions, please consult with your next employer so that the document must address your requirement. If they are okay with it, then you don't need a second opinion. Salary certificates are as valid as a payslip, so don't worry. However, make sure that you submit your experience letter and relieving letter to the new employer along with the salary certificate.

Thank you for your valuable replies.

Can you please send a format of a salary certificate and also mention whether the salary should be stated per month or annually in the certificate.

Always thankful,
Aaron

While you have not mentioned any details, I suggest that if the future company is good and you are excited to join there, then you should be open and transparent with the HR department. There is nothing wrong with stating that you have been working on a salary-on-cash basis. By hiding or withholding some information, even if true, or forging documents, you may stand to lose your precious offer.

Be transparent and honest. You will be rewarded in the long term.
