How to Prove Cash Salary for Background Checks When Your Old Employer Won't Help?

Littleshine
Hi Seniors,

I worked for a small software company. My salary was paid in cash, 18,000 only, and a payslip was given. Now I have been working in an MNC. During joining, I provided the last 3 months' salary slips, appointment letter, and service letter from my previous company.

The Background verification team is now asking for proof of cash. I have spoken to my previous company, but they are not ready to give me a salary certificate or any other documents.

Proof of Salary in Cash Payments

This is quite an obvious case. Any salary drawn without proof would remain questionable. However, other supporting documents such as a Joining Letter and an Appointment Letter will serve as proof. Your salary slip is proof on its own. However, the least you can offer is the bank account statement where you used to deposit the amount received from your employer, if you have it at all. These are supporting documents and not the exact proof. Did you ever fill out Form 16 while working at that firm?

Did you file your IT return by any chance? Can you ask your employer to provide you with photocopies of the salary voucher for the amount he has paid you? Also, explain to your current employer that being a small company, everything may not be up to the mark for 100% satisfaction.

For whatever amount that was paid to you, you might have signed any cash voucher or some document which was given to you by the accounts department for acknowledgment of payment towards salary. Please try to collect the same and give it to them. Otherwise, ask your BG department to directly approach the respective payment department for verification.

I appreciate the help from all the people here. Thank you.

I have a Joining Letter, Relieving Letter, and Salary Slips of the last 3 months, which are sealed and signed by an authorized person from the company. Will these documents work in clearing the BG verification process?

These authenticated documents should be adequate to clear background verification.

Dear Little Shine, you are asking the same question again. Your current employer needs proof of your payment even though you have provided the appointment letter, joining letter, relieving letter, and salary slips of the last three months, which are sealed and signed by an authorized person from the company. These days, many candidates are obtaining such documents from fake consultancies. That's why the background check team is requesting proof of salary paid, whether in cash or account. Since your previous company paid in cash, they must have recorded your payment in their books of accounts. Therefore, obtain the same proof from your previous accounts team or ask your background check team to meet them and verify the information.

Kindly make the necessary arrangements to provide the required documentation.

Thank you.
