Considering a Job Offer from a Small Company: Will It Affect My Career Growth?

bhavya_15
Dear seniors,

I have been offered a position as an IT Recruiter from a small company two days ago, and the company has fewer than 100 employees. I have over 2 years of experience in IT recruitment. If I join this organization, will it impact my career growth negatively since the company is small in size? Additionally, I left my previous job 2 months ago due to health issues and currently do not have any other job offers in hand.

Please guide me and provide your suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Dear Bhavya,

Grab the offer with both hands. Size has nothing to do with success. Sometimes you get a greater role in a smaller company. This offer is certainly a blessing in disguise. Also, remember that a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. It is better to have a small job in a good company rather than a not-so-good job in a big company.

Good advice from learned member Shri Raghunathan. The company being small will give you the opportunity to work on all aspects of your job and thus gain a wider experience. However, whether to go with a large or small company will largely depend on what you hope to accomplish and how you work best in an organization. It all boils down to individual preferences. But since you currently have no other offer, it would be a good idea to accept this job and try to learn and grow.

Hi,

As our members suggested earlier, you could go ahead and accept the offer. The reason is that if you join a big company, you may not have as many opportunities to learn. However, in the case of a smaller organization, you would have ample opportunities to learn and could also climb up the ladder at a faster pace.

Wishing you good luck.

Opportunities in Smaller Companies

Learned members have posted very nice views with reference to your query. It is not always true that only large-sized companies have better opportunities for employees. In fact, smaller companies work hard to strive for the best, and ultimately their employees have to put in their best efforts.

Since you currently have no other offer in hand, it will be a good opportunity to gain wider exposure where you may have to put in even more effort to prove yourself, which ultimately will add to your experience.
