Kindly suggest the Do's and Don'ts for the smoking area. In our automobile industry, we have decided to create a designated smoking area to prevent smoking in the workplace. I would like to establish guidelines for the Do's and Don'ts in the smoking zone.

Your assistance in formulating these guidelines would be greatly appreciated.

The do's and don'ts of a smoking area can be as follows:

1) Don't: Drop the ashes on the floor.
Do's: Use an ashtray all the time.

2) Don't: Spoil the premises with your cigarette buds.
Do's: Use a dustbin or ashtray while disposing of the smoke.

3) Don't: Make the smoking area a gossip zone.
Do's: Use the area for its intended purpose.

One important consideration is the location. It needs to be close enough to the workplace (sitting area) so people will make use of it. At the same time, it should be created in a manner that people do not get affected by the smoke. If you are making an enclosed smoking room, ensure that the exhaust is high enough to take the smoke above the building roofline.
