Can We Require Our Manager to Work at Another Company for Vehicle Maintenance?

Pintu12
Hi, we have four vehicles that are sent in on a monthly basis to another company. As the operators who run the vehicles don't come on time, we have planned to send our manager to work there starting from the upcoming days. However, he is refusing. Could we send him to work there? Please provide me with a format to inform him about working there, or are there any other conditions to consider?

Dear friend,

Your query is not clear. Please elaborate on the situation. Do you want your manager to go and work there if the drivers of the vehicle are not coming? What do you expect your manager to do in such a situation?

Is there anyone in HR or Admin who looks after these matters, or is everyone left to work for themselves as they see fit?
Pintu12
Actually, our vehicles, like cranes, are given on a hire basis or contract basis. We also provide drivers for the cranes, but they are not working properly and often do not arrive on time. Due to this, the hiring company has requested us to send someone to address these issues from their perspective. We have considered sending our manager; however, he is reluctant to go. Therefore, I am seeking advice on whether we should proceed with sending him. Additionally, could you please provide me with a template for the letter?

Thank you.
Raj Kumar Hansdah
Yes.

If he can get a conveyance allowance or transportation to visit or inspect the working at that place, how can the manager refuse? Please inform him verbally, or if he is required to claim any TA for the purpose, then a letter from the competent authority can also be sent. This is a routine matter, according to the nature of activities carried out by your company.

Sir, we have obtained permission from the company, and they have instructed us to send one person for the task. Could you provide a format for the letter to be given to our manager? In case he refuses, what actions should we take? Also, may I have your personal number for further assistance?
Raj Kumar Hansdah
Send one person can mean any staff. It need not be the Manager.

What is his work profile?
Is he connected with this as per his job description?
Pintu12
Actually, he should handle all those tasks, and we are not a big firm either. He is refusing to do it. If we give him a letter to go and work there, will we encounter any problems because of him?
Raj Kumar Hansdah
In that case, if he is supposed to handle these tasks, ask his boss or reporting officer to convey the instructions to him. You can also issue an order with the following wording:

"...you shall be present at the site at the beginning of the shift to ensure the availability of vehicles and take appropriate action..."

Please also ensure that he receives the usual conveyance, as per your rules, for visiting the site. Additionally, ensure that his attendance is properly marked. Another point is that some serious punitive action needs to be taken against the drivers for their lapses in performing their duties.
