Exploring the Formula for Happiness: What Really Matters Beyond Money?

“Finally, the Trainer wrote the formula as follows on the board:

HPn = f (Gh, Pn, Lv, Ps, Ss, Sc)

HPn = Happiness
Gh = Good Health
Pn = Positivity
Lv = Love
Ps = Purpose
Ss = Selflessness
Sc = Sense of Choice or Intelligence

The Trainer explains the formula as Happiness being a function of all the above variables, and every individual has their own order of preference in their life and priorities to be happy. It is up to an individual how he or she arranges these factors in their formula and includes some more variables in that formula.

Everybody was surprised to see the formula of happiness.

“Why are money and wealth not included in the formula? Are they not required to be happy?” one lady said.

Of course, a very complicated formula!

In other words, the formula reveals that nobody can achieve happiness in their life, as not all the components of happiness can be achieved simultaneously at any time, such as good health, positivity, love, purpose, selflessness, sense of choice, or intelligence, right?

These are all mental perceptions of individual writers, not scientifically proven truths. Naturally, all these things cannot be achieved at the same time by almost all people. You have not named the author or provided any contact information. I would definitely ask them if they have all these things and are truly happy. So, if you know the author, would you like to ask them to provide an example of any person in the world who possesses all these elements?

Not everyone is supposed to enjoy good health all the time. Not everyone can remain positive throughout their life. A person's negativity depends on circumstances and others' attitudes towards them. Love may not always be present, and hatred may not always be avoidable due to various reasons. Sometimes, individuals may lack a clear purpose, as they can be compelled to do things unwillingly, as often seen in the lives of workers/executives. In many cases, individuals act with selfish motives, disregarding how their actions may harm others.

The distinction between the sense of choice and intelligence is significant. Choice is influenced by emotions, passions, and sentiments, while intelligence operates independently. Intelligence can sometimes contradict personal choices, as choices are often driven by individual preferences, likes, and even compulsions. In many situations, intelligence does not factor into decision-making processes. For instance, if you fail to secure a job at your preferred company due to various reasons, your sense of choice may be limited, and you may have to settle for alternatives that are less desirable. Intelligence may lead to impressive achievements but may not always influence the outcome of personal choices.

Happiness often diminishes due to unfavorable home environments, working conditions, and external influences.

In my opinion, a very simple formula for happiness is, "Do not be dissatisfied with your current situation, take control of your destiny, strive for continuous career development according to your abilities and capabilities, and face life's challenges with confidence."

The best way to make yourself happy is by not expecting anything from others. This sounds easy but is hard to practice. We all expect so many things from others, and if others do not fulfill your wishes, then you become unhappy.

Another way is by doing things that make you happy. Again, this also sounds simple but is hard to practice. For example, we all have hobbies, and very few make their hobby a profession. They might not earn as much as others, but they are the ones who are actually happy in life.

A simple formula for happiness that everyone can understand: Happiness = Reality - Expectations.
