Seeking Help: How to Draft a Project-Based Appraisal Policy for My IT Company?

Philomina Binny
Dear All,

I am Philomina, working for a small IT company. The management has now introduced Project-Based Appraisal instead of Annual Performance Appraisal. Could anyone help me in drafting the policy? I am in need of a sample draft. I have reviewed a few appraisal policies shared on this site, but they have not been helpful to me. Your assistance in drafting the policy would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Dear Philomina Binny,

Project-based appraisal is interesting and a welcome change. You mentioned that you are not satisfied with the material available in Cite HR Archives. In that case, you should have made some attempt to create a first draft by yourself before seeking input from others.

Points to Consider for Project-Based Appraisal

To create the new appraisal, please consider the following points and then develop your own:

1. Name of the project / Number
2. Start date and end date - planned
3. Actual start date and end date
4. Key Result Areas (KRA) assigned to the individual in this project
5. Goals set and approved for the individual
6. Actual achievement / shortfall for the above (in serial number 5)
7. Self-assessment of the appraisee with respect to point number 5
8. Review by the appraiser regarding point number 5
9. Shortfall in the job, if any
10. Additional tasks carried out, if any
11. Customer feedback - appreciation/complaints

The above information can be presented in a specific format style or as a policy.

Hello Philomina Binny,

Thank you for the feedback and positive response. I appreciate the spirit of your reply when you wrote it will be useful for others also in the future. Looking forward to your draft soon in Cite HR.

I have to record two spelling corrections here. In my above post, the correct words in Sl no 7 and Sl no 8 should be "appraisee" and "appraiser" respectively.
