Torn Between HR and Finance for My MBA: Which Path Aligns with My Passion for Helping Others?

Hi, I'm a commerce student who has completed CA Inter. However, my interest lies more in spiritual activities and helping people with their problems. I have a strong desire to work for the betterment of others and assist them in resolving their issues. I am currently torn between specializing in HR or Finance for my MBA. I would appreciate your suggestions, considering my career background and interests.

Hi,

It's a very personal question which can only be decided by YOU. Think from a long-term perspective and try to match it with your GOALS. Then, do a comprehensive analysis of the various pros and cons, and only then arrive at the Final Decision.

In the present context, Finance is a booming sector, and with your strong background in finance, you can do wonders. As far as the people factor is concerned, it is required by all individuals irrespective of the job profile (as whatever you do, you deal with people). You also have the added inborn skills of people management, so I would suggest you go for a Major in Finance and a Minor in HR.

Do think twice before making the final decision as it's a question of your Career.

Regards,
Samarjeet.

Dear Girish,

At this stage, you need to make a firm decision. I am suggesting that you pursue a career in finance.

Hi Abhi,

In my view, if you want to pursue a career in Finance, then you should go for the completion of your CA because CA and ICWA always carry more weightage over an MBA in Finance. However, if you are inclined towards HR, then an MBA in HR is the better option. Ultimately, the decision should be made by you after considering your career interests.

I think at this stage, you should look towards your future and not just focus on what you like. I'll suggest that you consider pursuing a career in finance.
