Facing Late Salaries: What Happens If We Leave After Finally Getting Paid?

Me and my colleague were the only two persons in the back office for a leading real estate group that was recently started in September for NRIs. We have been providing support at the backend from a company in Bangalore since September. The issue is we have not been receiving our salaries on time from this company for the past two months, i.e., September and October. We have been receiving them by check between the 10th and 15th of the month. This month, we are uncertain whether we will receive our salaries at all. This situation has caused us significant mental and physical stress.

As a result, we have decided to abscond after receiving our salaries. Despite escalating the issue to HR, the Project Manager, and Accounts, no one has responded to our concerns adequately. Could you please advise on the potential consequences if we go through with our plan to abscond after receiving our salaries?

Do not abscond. Quit officially after receiving your salary. You have not worked for too long in this company. You can even boldly state that payment is not given on time and you find it difficult.

Salary is a very sensitive issue for all employees and a source of livelihood. It is the duty of the employer to disburse salary on time. Before that, you can have a word with your management, and if nothing happens, then I would advise that on the day your salary is credited to your account (not the day you receive the cheque), you may submit your resignation and discuss the same with your management, stating the issues you are facing.

As you have mentioned that you may not receive clearance and a service letter, you may show your account statement to your future employer and try to convince them by mentioning the situation you are in and the reasons you quit your previous job. Hopefully, your employer will understand.
