What Are Current PF/ESI Rules And Methods?

sunil02
I am going to join some organization in a day or two after completing my MBA. I had worked in HR for about 2-3 years before joining MBA. At that time, the PF account of the employee used to be opened through some forms. I have the following questions if any expert could answer them (As per Delhi state rules). I will be very thankful.

What is the current process of opening a PF account of a newly joined employee? (Is it online or offline?)
What could be the best possible salary breakup to provide maximum tax benefit to the employee and benefits to the employee while complying with all the laws? (Take Gross salary 50k).
What is the process of filing return monthly (if we have to or we just need to inform the inspector of EPFO? Is it online or offline? Is it mandatory?)
What is the process of filing the yearly return? (Is it all online or offline? What all things do we include in the return? Is it mandatory?)
How can we deposit PF/ESI amount to the PF department? (Monthly? Is it online or offline?)
Is it true that ESI is required only for factories?
When we process salary, what details and in what form do we give to the finance department? (I actually want to know the method of salary processing).

Thanks in Advance!

Hi Mr. Sunli,

I) A new employee, at the time of joining an organization, has to fill up Form-02 (Nomination Form). Then the employer will create a new ID for the new employee and update his personal information provided in the form on the PF portal.

If an employee is already a PF member, they have to fill out Form-11 when taking up new employment. The employer will then register his/her PF number under the employer's establishment.

II) I don't know about tax (TAX).

III) Both monthly and yearly returns will be submitted online.

IV) You have to pay PF and ESI monthly contributions through the online payment facility available on the respective website after generating a challan for the same.

V) ESI also applies to medical institutions, educational institutions, hotels, restaurants, newspaper establishments, etc.

VI) In the salary process, leave details, PF and ESI or other deduction details must be included. I am sorry, but I don't have the form.

With Regards,
Mr. Thumbs Up
