Salary Breakdown: How Much Should Be Deducted for a Day's Leave?

crvankar
My salary is $10,000 in cash plus $3,500 conventional pay in cash. What amount should be deducted for one day leave from this salary per month?

Dear Crvankar,

Days of the month may vary from 28 to 31. Accordingly, the salary for one day may also vary. Divide your salary by the number of days in that particular month to get the one-day salary.

Computation of leave without pay should be calculated as 1/26 of the monthly gross salary. So in your case, it will be 13000/26 = ₹500.

The above calculation is based on working days. Weekly offs are not considered as leave without pay.

You state that you get Rs. 3000 per month in cash (conventional pay). What does this exactly mean?

Dear Mr. Crynkar,

Your message is not clear. If you are seeking advice on taking leave with or without pay, the method of calculating salary per day depends on the company. Normally, the salary will be divided by the number of days in the calendar month (30/31). In the case of a weekly day of rest being paid along with wages, the salary will be divided accordingly. If the rest day is not paid, the salary shall be divided by 26 days, regardless of the month.
