Navigating Contract Labor Licenses: Do I Need More for 800 Workers in Tamil Nadu?

ramthevar
Hi everyone,

I am working in a Facility Management Services Company. We are providing nearly 800 contract laborers to our clients. We have taken a CLRA License for those cases which exceed 20 C.L. Other than that, is there any other license to obtain?

My friend told me that you need to get a license for those 800 employees, and you can engage contract labor employees all over Tamil Nadu. What should I do?

Thank you.

Hi Buddy,

It is a tough question for me to answer; however, as far as my knowledge goes, there is no statewide license available under the act. Therefore, you have to take a license for those cases where you are employing 20 or more contract workers for your clients.

Hi,

Contract labor licenses are issued on a site-specific basis. If you are providing 800 employees to various clients at different sites, then licenses must be obtained for the respective sites, provided that you are supplying more than 20 employees at a particular site. If you are providing fewer than 20 employees at any site, you are not required to obtain a license for that site.

Each principal employer who avails contract services with more than 20 employees on contract must procure the CL License. It is a requirement for every employer to provide a duly filled Form V for this purpose. Therefore, this regulation applies to all sites where more than 20 employees are working under contract.
