Struggling to Close My Old PF Account Without a UAN – How Can I Resolve This?

To generate my UAN number, as my previous company did not provide it to me after 2 years. I have now changed jobs and moved to another city, where I have obtained a new PF account. I would like to close my previous account, but I am unable to do so without the UAN. Please help me.

You cannot generate a UAN number by yourself. You can only activate it. You have to talk to your previous employer regarding the issue. Otherwise, get the new UAN number from your new employer and transfer the previous PF amount to the new one.

You can transfer the previous employer's PF amount to the new UAN by filling Form 13(R) and getting it signed by the previous employer or present employer (it is better to have the signature of the previous employer) and submitting the same at the concerned PF authorities. The total amount will be transferred to the new account, and the PF service will also be accumulated.

Hi, if you don't know your UAN, no need to worry. Your previous company has already allotted the PF Account number for you. Based on that number, you can transfer or withdraw the PF amount. You need to visit your previous company.

Hi, if your UAN was already generated by a previous employer based on your PF account number, you can search for your UAN number on the EPFO website under "Know Your UAN Number." If the UAN was not generated by your previous employer, your new employer can generate the UAN, and the previous employer's PF details can be linked with your present PF details using UAN login. You can transfer your EPF and EPS accumulations by using the Online Claim Transfer Portal (OCTP) online.
